About Us

Located at 823 East 7th Street on the corner of Arcade Street and East 7th. Dayton's Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services is centrally located within the areas we serve.

Mission

The purpose of DBNHS is to renew pride, restore confidence, promote reinvestment and revitalize the NHS neighborhood(s) through the efforts of local residents acting in concert with financial institutions, the insurance industry, corporate enterprise and the business community, community organizations, foundations and government.

Background

DBNHS was incorporated in 1980 and has provided services in St. Paul's Eastside since 1981. Primary services of the organization include owner-occupied rehab lending and construction management, home-ownership education counseling, and financial entry assistance, purchase-rehab-resale and new construction.

Accomplishments in 2009

• Provided 192 families with pre- and post- purchase housing counseling

• Rehabilitated or repaired 24 rental or owner occupied units (1-4 units)

• Assisted 79 families in purchasing a home through home ownership counseling, down payment, closing cost or financing assistance

• Owned or managed 19 rental units

• Invested $1,765,854 in the community through Dayton's Bluff Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.'s revolving loan fund, which leveraged $10,626,124 from conventional lenders and other sources

• Total direct investment in the community is $12,391,978

Staff

The staff at Dayton’s Bluff NHS consists of five full-time employees, one part-time employee, and one part-time graduate student. All employees have extensive experience in the housing development, non-profit, finance, and construction industries.

Board of Directors

The Dayton’s Bluff NHS Board of Directors is composed of 16 individuals who are elected to serve 3-year terms. Our by-laws require a majority of the board members reside in the Dayton’s Bluff NHS servicing area, with the remaining directors to represent government, business, and financial institutions.
